"Live within the Beat" is their motto and a true reflection of Side F/X band's alternative pop style and infectious performance of their love of music. A Washington D.C. band that loves to tell melodic tales, Side F/X is a new band with a new approach.

Side F/X hit the ground jamming in their new album, "Contradictions." Combining a fresh pop sound with inspired lyrics, the band lets loose with dance tunes that get far away from the standard electronic downbeat and overused synthesizers. It's an alternative sound that is all their own--a smooth blend of pop, jazz, and rock, with sometimes even a few rifts of middle-eastern wind instrumentation woven in. And when you listen between the lyrics and guitars, you'll hear a violin threading in and out like a purple ribbon tying you closer to the story.

"They're stories about us, our friends, our family, stories where you'll likely see a window into yourself," says Kim, lead singer and songwriter. Singer and songwriter Kim Cameron gives the album's "get up and dance" spirit a seductive twist. In a voice reminiscent of Chrissy Hines, Cameron's sultry alto notes glide among violin and saxophone echoes and make you also want to just sit back, close your eyes, and take in the lyrics. "While the upbeat music has them dancing, the lyrics keep the fans coming back for more," says Chris Nikpora, lead guitarist.

The lyrics speak to life's journey, exploring emotional relationships and drawing strength from life experiences. Combined with the band's energy, you'll be singing along by the second chorus.
