Talk about a week full of activity…….not only did I have weather shock coming back from a month on the island, but boy, did I have a lot to do this week, ending with me taking my first pole dancing lesson in New York City.
The week began with teaching at the School of Rock and rehearsals. By the time Friday morning came around, I was wondering where the week had gone, but Friday was the cat’s meow. We had the opportunity to perform at the Walter Reed Medical Center for their Winterfest celebration. It was a fantastic show with a couple thousand military folks showing up. There is nothing better than singing to our military families. We took just a few pictures that afternoon.
I then jumped on a train and played tourist with a good friend for the weekend in New York. It is hard to believe that it was only a couple of days based on the places we went to---you know, traditional, good ‘ole fashion New York City for Christmas things. We saw the Rockerfeller Christmas tree and skaters, the big lights in Times Square, a show on Broadway, the Christmas windows and, of course, roasted chestnuts!
I even managed to see some great friends and party…just a little, which is where the pole dancing entered into the weekend. Met a professional pole dancer and was completely hooked on her strength. I have now decided to learn how to do what she does. It’s hard to explain, but she was able to hold her entire body up with her arms and then move so gracefully that you were unable to take your eyes off of her every move.
Yup……signing up this week.
