2012 ……as I reflect back, I get to smile about a lot of great things. We started the year hitting over 1 million Youtube views with 3 Seconds. We, then, had the song placed in a video game. We did a singer/songwriter tour with the Aloft Hotels and helped raise money for the little league basketball team in Washington, NC by recording the National Anthem with about 100 kids (too cute!).
In the spring, I spent two months in New York City recording my 4th Album with Richie Cannata. In the summer, I performed on Rams Head Live in Baltimore - a stage I always wanted to set my foot on, as well as, on one of my favorite islands—Nantucket. At the same time, I was honored to be asked to write for both NBC and ABC private catalogues.
Anthony and I, then, hit the road performing our FX Electronica show (which was a blast!) By the time I got up for air, our new album Spin Me Ever After was released with 5 out of 5 star reviews and we were performing on Playboy radio! I had this crazy idea about performing a music video in my underwear…and ooops, we went viral. Who knew?!
We hit our annual Blues Alley stage to kick off our tour, which took us to the Caribbean for a month and finished back in DC performing for our troops just before Christmas at Walter Reed.
And now, with only a few days left, I received ‘Album of Year’ award and news that ‘Man I Used to Know’ was just added to 6-radio stations playlists. Yes, this year has had so many blessings.
When I think about all the hardships that so many people have endured between losing children or spouses or friends, or struggling to make ends meet, I am that more thankful for the opportunities which have been presented. And while I can honestly say 2012 has been a really great year, I look forward to 2013 even more. Perhaps I am the ultimate optimist, or perhaps I see bright lights over the horizon, but for whatever the reason might be, there are songs to be written and stages to be performed on…….!
Happy New Year!!
